Mary Kay Fall 2012 Reviews + Swatches! & a GIVEAWAY!

When I was younger, I truly hated fall. Everything dying made me so sad. Now that I’m older, I actually enjoy it quite a bit. The leaves with their array of falling colors, putting on a gorgeous coat, & wearing bold but simple makeup simply makes me oh so happy.

When I had the opportunity to review some new products sent to me from Mary Kay for you guys, I knew it was a must! Growing up with Mary Kay in my mom’s stash spoiled me quite a bit. She would let me pick out a few things here & there for special occasions. My first red lipstick was from Mary Kay. I’ve pretty much been hooked ever since! Whether you’re new to the brand or an avid Mary Kay lover, this Hollywood Mystique Collection is mighty impressive.

Now let's get into swatches/reviews! As always, the italicized print is from the Mary Kay Website.

Mary Kay® Mineral Eye Colors: Mineral-based formulas that are long-lasting, fade-resistant and look gorgeous on any skin tone.Left to right are top shades Espresso, Hazelnut, Lavender Fog. Bottom row left to right are Spun Silk,
Chocolat Kiss, & Honey Spice.

I am in love with the texture of these shadows! They are soft & creamy, but not so bad that they crumble or clump up. I love shimmering neutrals & find myself consistently drawn to them. Spun Silk was the only one of this bunch that wasn't wonderfully pigmented. It still makes an okay highlight, just not my favorite. The rest are fab shades for fall, especially Hazelnut because it’s so versatile.

Top to bottom: Lash Love® Mascara brush in I Heart Black, Eyeliner in Black, & Ultimate Mascara™ brush in Black.

Mary Kay® Lash Love® Mascara: Defines, defends and delivers 4 times
the volume. Lashes appear fuller, lifted and multiplied.
Love indeed! This rubber bristle brush reminds me of another I tried ages ago although I can't quite put my finger on which one. These straight, rubber wands cover all of my lashes effortlessly & works great on my lower lashes. This can also be built up or is a great base mascara.

Mary Kay® Eyeliner: Long-wearing, creamy eyeliner for unforgettable eyes.
Honestly this eyeliner didn't blow me away. I was hoping for something softer perhaps, I guess using so many gel eyeliners has spoiled me. This is very long wearing though & didn't smudge out on me for the entire duration of wear on my upper lashline.

Mary Kay® Ultimate Mascara™: Exclusive, all-in-one formula delivers long, thick, voluminous-looking lashes. And it has Smart Wiper™ technology that delivers the exact amount of mascara you need for maximum plumping – without the clumping.
When I looked at this brush, it didn't look like anything spectacular. Wrong. I wore this almost every single day for a week (a big deal for a mascara junkie!) because the effect & application are so beautiful. As usual, I love this layered but as the finishing mascara. This combined with Lash Love® gave me ridiculous lashes that didn't smudge at all, even when nights turned into mornings out!

Mary Kay® Creme Lipsticks: Rich, stay-true color in irresistible glamorous shades.

Left to right swatched: Black Cherry, Red, & Really Red.

I have to admit, these were my first Mary Kay® lipsticks in ages. Now I have no idea whyI stopped wearing them. They are really moisturizing & beautifully pigmented. Although, I love Really Red (No really!) Black Cherry blew my mind for fall. I mean, it just looks beyond gorgeous. I'll be showing you lip swatches & combos later on & I know some of you will be driven to own it as well! Really Red is HOT & bright, very much like a few high-end reds I own. Red wasn't a bad shade, but it didn't seem...red enough? It’s a very wearable almost purple toned red. The packaging on these is superb. I love the shade on the bottom & the color on the top. Other brands take notes!

Mary Kay ® NouriShine Plus® Lip Gloss: Kiss your lips with moisture.

Left to right swatched: Pink Luster, Red Passion, & Rock 'N' Red.

If you can only buy one product from this entire post, let it be one of these glosses. Moisturizing, long lasting, & oh so pigmented these in general are a standout for me. Pink Luster is a mauve toned baby pink with pink shimmer, Red Passion is a very orange based red or even a red based orange. Perfect for fall! I shot these so you could see the shimmer even though Rock 'N' Red doesn't have any because you wouldn't have seen the glory that is Red Passion photographed.

This is packed with orange, gold & purple shimmer depending on the lighting. Rock 'N' Red is just ridiculously pigmented & gorgeous. These apply almost like a lacquer, thick & rich without actually being thick. They are so comfortable, didn't bleed on me, & wore a remarkable amount of time. Pick your shade & I guarantee you'll be back for more. These actually smell like some type of vanilla or angel food cake as well.

Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color: Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color is so versatile that, no matter what your skin tone, you can start with a natural glow and then build fade-resistant color as you like it.

Swatches left to right: Cherry Blossom, Shy Blush, & Sparkling Cider.

I love switching the blushes around in the compact, especially for fall. I find myself really playing up my cheekbones while keeping my eyes minimal. A pop of color on the lips & cheeks & then I have that natural fall "I just came in from the wind looking fab" look. Cherry Blossom is probably the shade that screams fall for me since it’s a mauve with a sparse pink shimmer. Shy Blush is OH so comparable to a popular blush that is a cult favorite. A peachy pink with a golden peachy shimmer? I absolutely love it, but I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be a "fall shade" of blush. Sparkling Cider is an orange toned brown with golden shimmer. I rarely wear browns as blush but this one is very pretty. These are all super buildable but most importantly for me, easy to blend out since I don't usually wear heavy handed blush.

Overall, I really like this array of shades, especially for autumn. Although I would have liked a striking purple in there somewhere, the fabulous red-lacquer gloss definitely makes up for it! The shadows are all easy to wear, can be work appropriate, & all but one are wonderfully pigmented. I absolutely love the blush selections although I would've liked to have seen something that was matte. Clearly I think both mascaras are fabulous & I love to layer one atop the other. They really last well on me which is rare for a mascara that isn't waterproof. The eyeliner is alright, but I prefer a softer pencil & deeper black. Not everyone loves that.  If you want something that lasts well though, it's a good option. I'm so addicted to these glosses that it's not even funny though. The lipsticks are definitely versatile. I also like taking my pinkie & applying them almost like a stain for just a touch of color.
