What I Change Up in My Beauty Routine for Spring/Summer!

I love changing up my beauty with the seasons. The greiges of fall, metallics & earthy tones for winter, pastels in spring, bright shades in summer...it is jut too fun! Changing up my routine & colors is a natural progression of seasons for me but I think spring/summer are definitely my favorites! I love transitioning into the more cheery color palette because I grew up in California...winter/fall just wasn't all that extreme. Now that I'm in Nebraska....well lets just say we appreciate good whether a ton more now!

I cover everything in the video above (minus talking about my love for BB Creams/CC Creams when it warms up...oops!) but there are obviously even more changes I make. I basically try to use products with nice coverage but that feel much lighter. They also have to hold up really well through this ridiculous humidity!

After 3 months of using my Jergens products (check out my first & 2nd posts here for more information!) I'm very pleased. My favorite is the daily moisturizer because I'm so fair. Usually self-tanners, even those for fair skin, lean too dark to begin with on me which makes it super obvious. I loved using this at night (like I said in the video!) but if I forgot I used it after a shower without issue. Just remember to exfoliate as with any self tanner! My Spring Must Haves + Jergens Update/Giveaway!

So in preparation of spring I've been accumulating all of the things that make me happy this time of year. Stackable bracelets! Bright nails! Maxi dresses! Ah why isn't the sun shining as I write this? Seriously there is snow/frost all over our bench outside! Ridiculous! But, when it actually starts to look like Spring outside...I'll be ready! Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer has quickly made it into my testing routine & I'm impressed! From a seriously pale girl you know I love a self-tanner that actually shows a natural color without that self-tanner scent. I still get a tad bit of it but it doesn't bother me anymore! Did you know it can smell stronger on some people due to their skin chemistry? I hadn't ever thought of that but it is true! Anyway, let's look at what I'm seriously loving this spring shall we?

I've accumulated every item on this list & I'm really excited it all came together nicely so I can share it with you! Of course there is a bit more nail polish than everything else...but I feel like you'd be disappointed if there wasn't! I love starting with a basic base & adding color because every time I wear it the feeling will be different. Sometimes I will start with a black base (or another basic color this just happens to be the dress I'm in love with currently!) & add neon or nautical or pastels. The options are endless which is why I love to have some staple pieces!

Fashion:
The lace/crochet skull back jersey maxi dress is from Charlotte Russe& I'm hooked! It has such a classic, comfortable shape but the back makes it interesting! Because I try not to show too much skin everywhere I love dresses with an interesting back focus like cutouts, interesting designs, or cool strap details. Obviously I look 110% better in this now that I'm getting tanner! The shoes you see are actually by Croc & they are called Adrina Flat s. I absolutely adore them & swear them for comfort. I have really sensitive feet & I always choose to wear these to events...people always want to know where they're from too!

Makeup/Beauty:
I definitely try to play up one feature during the warmer months. I love using the Urban Decay Naked Palette for awesome warm neutral looks which look awesome against bronzed skin. I also loveL'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows& Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows for colors that will last day to night! For spring I'm absolutely head over heels for my Marc Jacobs Sunshine Eau So Fresh. When it comes to my body, I'm working on getting tan with Jergens (see my first introductory post here!) new products but Jergens 3 Days to Glow moisturizer is the standout. I like that it only takes 3 days (impatient!) & it develops into a really natural shade! I also like the Jergens Natural Glow Face Tanner but my skin is so dry that I feel like I'm exfoliating most of it away. I'm going to keep experimenting & maybe using it at night too!

Nails:
I won't go too crazy with explanations because you'll be seeing all of these shades over the next few weeks on the blog (if not already!) but I love to wear pastels one day, chunky glitter the next, textures, neons, sweet shimmers...I just like nail polish. Some of my favorites are Essie Watermelon, Zoya Wednesday, Zoya Opal, Butter London Jasper, OPI Do You Lilac It, & Wet n Wild Heatwave.

Accessories:
I didn't want to throw down too many accessories but I have tons. I love jewelery, scarves, purses, sunglasses...ah I just love accessories! I especially wanted to point out these bright skull bracelets which I also bought from Charlotte Russe& I'm loving them! They're perfect for layering! I also love changing up my sunglasses & go with basic shades when I'm wearing bright shades & fun sunglasses like these from Forever 21 to jazz up an outfit. Loving that tropical print & they're less than $6!

My Self Tanning Mishaps & New Products from Jergens!

I think it is safe to say I've hd some tanning disasters. I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA where tanning was just a part of my life. We lived half a mile from the beach so I don't think it is too shocking that you would find us at the beach in the sun. No spf in site. After some family cancer scares, my very fair mother getting very angry at me, & just general research I turned to self tanners.

Naturally, I am quite fair & fine with it through winter. My arms & back will tan a bit in warmer weather from the sunlight but other than that I'm pretty starkly white. My legs are so white that almost every self tanner looks bright orange for months! That is so not the spring look that is in fashion! There is also the smudging issue, discoloration, & then the time I had a self tanner that flaked off making me look like a reptile. All over my body. It was gross. & the week I had a girlfriends beach party. Oddly enough, turtlenecks weren't acceptable attire!

Now don't let me convince you self tanners don't work because they honestly do! Once you learn to choose the right products for you, its a golden tan from there. First of all, not all self tanners are made equal or require the same routine. Some are gradual, some are sprays, some are meant specifically to be used on certain areas of the body...the possibilities are pretty much endless. Jergens has come out with some new & reformulated products & were kind enough to send some my way. Over the next few months, I'll be trying out some new products from Jergens & sharing my thoughts with you.

First off, this lotion smells quite nice which is an excellent suprise! The new Jergens boasts "Finally! Great color without ordor!" & although I haven't applied it yet I can usually smell it in the bottle. I've used Jergens Daily Moisturizer before & I'm excited to begin again! Perfect to keep a tan from fading without being an instant 5 shades darker!

Again, this moisturizer smells very nice in the bottle! When you need so see coloring fast, this is what you're supposed to use! While I prefer something a bit gradual to begin with I think this is the perfect option before a bit event! I might actually use this to begin my self tanning then keep it going with the gradual option.

I love that there is a drugstore option for facial tanner! This self tanner is also oil free & contains SPF 20 for perfect day time use. This will be excellent to help me match my neck/face to my body! I know a lot of people just buy foundation to match their body but that means I have to wear foundation all the time & that just isn't for me!

So there you have it! I will start using them right this minute (okay actually tonight!) so I'll have lots to report back in the coming months.
